After an hour and a half flight with Swiss airline, I came back to London for the first time in six months. The taxi driver took me to an accommodation on the east side of London, crossing the north side. I noticed the different atmospheres among all quarters in London.

I am staying at a serviced apartment with a fully equipped kitchen and laundry room. Soon after I checked into my room, I went to a grocery store and bought some fruit and vegetables. I am going to cook my meals every day!

Dressed in a kimono, I attended our graduation party. According to the seating plan of the dinner, I was on the same table as the principal. It was a great pleasure to sit with her. There was a diploma awards ceremony of the school. I got a diploma and a small memento. It was a silver card holder with the school logo on it. I realised that I had finally graduated from the school!

The following morning, I wrote some letters to my teachers and friends and handed them the letters. After having the last lunch at school, I left there with Juri, seen off by the teachers. I am staying at a hotel in town and spending this weekend relaxing. For the first time, I feel very relaxed and comfortable in this town, as I have been walking around here with a nervous mind because of the exams. I will leave for London next week.

I joined a day trip to Zurich with my classmates. We walked around the town and entered a cathedral, which has huge stained-glass windows designed by Chagall. It was beautiful. We savoured the moment and then moved to a famous restaurant, Kronenhalle, which was decorated with many paintings by Chagall and Picasso in the more than 300-year-old building. Their food and service were fantastic. They serve food in the classic style. The serving equipment is antique. I was so impressed with everything about the restaurant.

Second Practical Exam

My second practical exam is finally over! There is just one week until my course finishes. I would like to enjoy a lot of things and new values through my swiss life here.

We had a class, in which Japanese culture was featured. The principal asked me to give a session on kimono in the class. I was very excited, and I gave the demonstration in front of everyone, although I was a little nervous. Most students seemed to see a real Japanese kimono, as opposed to one in a film. The principal said that she was very proud that I started to take an interest in my own culture. I would like to study more about kimonos during the rest of my life!

Practical Exam

One of my two practical exams in school scored a major success! In the exam, I had to set a theme of a dinner party and arrange all the table settings by myself. It included decorating the menus and name cards, ironing a tablecloth and napkins, making flower arrangements for my guests, and on the following day, holding the dinner party, making conversation and talking to everyone with good table manners.

I have known about the practical exam since last year. That is why I have been learning flower arrangement in Japan for the year to prepare for the exam. I went to buy flowers and decoration items last weekend and prepared my table plan and conversation simulation.

In the exam, all my classmates, who were playing the role of my guests, helped me and talked to me a lot, and our conversation went well. When I saw my teacher’s big smile at the end of the party, I knew that my dinner had been a success, and we hugged after finishing the exam. I very much appreciate everyone’s support!
