Luca and I welcomed in the New Year at his friend’s house over wine. I had a hangover on New Year’s Day and ended up spending the whole day sleeping. I woke up at 7 am this morning feeling good, which was great, because my sleeping routine had been getting worse during the holidays.
Although it was supposed to be done the previous day, I made a Sicilian-Japanese New Year’s celebration meal for lunch: grilled tuna with pesto genovese, tamagoyaki (omelet), shrimp tempura, osekihan (rice with red beans) and osumashi (soup) with gold powder. I badly felt like eating a Japanese meal for the New Year’s celebration and tried to cook it with the few Asian ingredients that I was able to get in town.
Tomorrow is going to be the last day of the holiday before I start my PhD programme. I want to go out for some fresh air.
